At WEDO, we honour the importance of both Afghan and Australian national days, as well as key international observances. These celebrations provide an opportunity to bring communities together, foster cultural understanding, and highlight shared values of unity and respect.

Afghan National Days:
We commemorate significant Afghan occasions such as Nowruz (Persian New Year), a time of renewal and joy, and Afghanistan’s Independence Day on August 19, celebrating the nation’s resilience and heritage. These events allow the Afghan community to connect with their roots, share traditions, and pass them on to younger generations.

Australian National Days:
WEDO actively participates in Australian national celebrations like Australia Day on January 26 and Anzac Day on April 25, recognising the country’s history, diversity, and contributions to a harmonious multicultural society.

International Days:
We also observe global events such as World Refugee Day (June 20), which highlights the resilience of displaced communities, and International Women’s Day (March 8), celebrating women’s achievements and advocating for equality.
